Dr. Peng Fang

Dr. Fang Peng previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of GCL Poly Energy International and has over 20 years of senior management experience at world-leading solar energy and semiconductor technology companies in both China and the United States. He was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of JA Solar, where he built the company into the largest domestic manufacturer of solar cells and modules, and during the industry downturn in 2012 he successfully led the company to achieve the best financial performance in the sector. Dr. Fang was named one of Forbes magazine’s “Seven Most Influential Global Figures in the Energy Sector” in 2011 and was recognized as one of China’s “Top Ten Leaders in the Solar Energy Industry” in both 2011 and 2012. He spoke as a member of the Chinese President Hu Jintao’s delegation at the U.S.–China Clean Energy Strategic Summit held in Washington, D.C. in 2011. He previously served as President of Huahong NEC, one of China’s largest semiconductor manufacturers, and held various technical and management positions at Applied Materials and AMD in the United States. Dr. Fang earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota and conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He also serves as Chair of the IEEE Electron Devices Society, Santa Clara Valley Chapter.
